My studio is part of an old barn on my property at Ladbrooks near Christchurch, New Zealand. This rural aspect and stunning views of the Banks Peninsula Hills provide me with an inspirational working environment. I enjoy the opportunity to teach both individuals and community classes.
My works can be found in a wide variety of places including private gardens and homes, public places, schools and corporate settings throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the USA.
The main focus of my work is human form however I also enjoy creating abstract pieces. I sculpt with a variety of mediums including stone, wood, copper, plastercast and chicken wire.
I find 13mm galvanised hex wire to be particularly adaptable and durable. Human form and animals tend to be my main focus.
The diversity of workable stone available in New Zealand offers me the freedom to work in many styles of sculpture.
I tend to use recycled copper as the natural patina developed through the oxidization process again creates a wonderful diversity of colour which enhances the completed piece.
The New Zealand native timbers offer rich grains and colours which enhance my sculptural pieces.
Plastercast is fast, messy and good fun.
